The 2019 Crozes Hermitage la Guiraude was bottled in March 2021, but it is just being sold this spring (2022). It's a full-bodied, rich effort, almost a bit over the top, with bold flavors of blackberry jam, uncluttered and unsoftened by much in the way of new oak. It's concentrated and intense, a bit chewy without being overly hard, with a long, velvety finish.

Sultry and smoldering, with incense and an attractive cherry and blackberry core. Powerful and densely packed on the smooth palate, with softening tannins still guiding the long, salty, iron-infused finish, which stands firm. Polished and well-crafted, with impressive texture. Drink now through 2032. 500 cases made, 100 cases imported.

The 2020 Crozes-Hermitage La Guiraude is slightly richer, with lifted black cherry, currants, violets, and peppery, incense-like notes in a medium-bodied, fleshy, nicely textured profile. It's a successful Crozes that should have a decade of longevity.
