Aromas of red berries, forest floor and spices introduce the 2018 Monthélie Village, a medium to full-bodied, nicely balanced wine that's fine-boned and vibrant. Matured in some 15% new wood, this large cuvée hails entirely from a six-hectare parcel owned by Bouchard.

This red leans to the vegetal side, offering savory leaf and autumn woods notes to counter the cherry and currant fruit. Sinewy in texture, with moderate length. Best from 2024 through 2029. 250 cases imported.

The 2018 Monthelie Village comes from six hectares of vine over two parcels. It underwent a ten-day maceration with 20% whole cluster and a minimal punching down. There is plenty of blackberry and bilberry fruit on the punchy bouquet, and briar scents develop with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, quite saline in the mouth but missing a little complexity on the brine-tinged finish.
