Inky-hued. Perfumed, elegant nose of red cherry, tar, licorice and bitter herbs, complicated by cocoa and coffee. Then big and strapping, with still slightly astringent tannins; this needs lots of time. Long and powerful, but light on its feet.
Wine Spectator

A dense, brooding red, offering a rich, aromatic vein of tarry mineral, with accents of licorice and medicinal herb to the flavors of baked black cherry and woodsy spice. Well-meshed and full-bodied, with a long, grippy finish. Best from 2021 through 2031. 1,000 cases made, 100 cases imported.

The 2011 Taurasi Vigna Cinque Querce is a plump and juicy red wine with a bouquet of dark tar, spice and raisiny fruit. You do taste the dry heat of the vintage, thanks to the wine's opulent ripeness. The alcohol clocks in at 15%. The grapes are fermented in stainless steel, and the wine is aged in both barrique and botte grande for 48 months. Some 10,950 bottles were made.
