The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Steinhauer Vineyard shows a darker side of Howell Mountain. Black cherry, plum, grilled herbs, menthol, licorice and pine give the 2017 striking shades of brooding intensity. The Steinhauer is the darkest and most powerful of Beringer's 2017 Howell Mountain wines.

Coming from pure volcanic soils on Howell Mountain, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Steinhauer Ranch (100% Cabernet aged new barrels) boasts a deep purple color as well as a concentrated, full-bodied, savory style. Blackcurrants, graphite, chocolate, and ample dried earth notes flow to a tannic wine that has good mid-palate depth and concentration yet needs bottle age to develop more charm. Give bottles 4-5 years in a cool cellar, and it should evolve for 20 years or more.
