Chateau Castera Medoc 2014
|Region||France, Bordeaux, Medoc|
Both the tannins and the wood aging flavors are strongly evident in this wine at this stage. But with the intense black-currant fruit and the acidity, it is going to be a ripe while also structured wine. The estate dates to the 14th century. Drink from 2020.
The 2014 Castera has an airy, well defined and attractive bouquet with lifted red cherries, wild strawberry and rose petal aromas. The oak is neatly integrated here. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, and then the second half feels very curmudgeonly and structured with a bitter note on the aftertaste. This Cru Bourgeois had started so well! Tasted September 2016.
