Pungent with black currant and boxwood. Lime, gooseberry and smoky herbals also apparent. Fleshy and fruit-sweet entry heavy with passionfruit and a little blackcurrant. Underling this we have complex herbal and citrus notes. Mineral and spice on the finish. Nice breadth and length. Can be enjoyed with a variety of food. Serve it with veal, seafood (brilliant with oysters) or a chicken dish such as a mild chicken korma with crispy poppadoms.

Intense and generous, with mango, orange sherbet and apricot flavors, along with notes of sweetgrass and lemon blossoms on a fleshy, juicy frame. Reveals fresh ginger and a hint of jasmine on the finish. Drink now. 80,000 cases made, 13,000 cases imported. From New Zealand.—MaryAnn Worobiec

The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc Black Label is a well-judged style with attractive fruit. It is nicely textured, almost chewy, with some decent substance through its bright, firm care. It has attractive flavors of gooseberry, elderflower and passion fruit that combine well. Five months on lees rounds out its edges and also lends some flesh to the light-bodied palate.
