The well-priced 2016 Aglianico del Vulture Synthesi is a streamlined and immediate wine to enjoy within the next five years or so. The wine shows purity and focus with dark fruit aromas of dried cherry and blackcurrant followed by spice, tar and scorched earth. It shows a mid-weight approach with some mild tannic firmness and balanced acidity.

Aromas of hazelnut and campfire ride over a wild-berry core in this wine. There's a pleasant plumpness to the palate, hemmed by a line of tart acidity and crunchy mineral tones. A structured frame of firm medium-grained tannins lends support to this otherwise accessible Aglianico.

Deep red. Aromas of cherry, tobacco, and fresh herbs have a pungent floral quality. Juicy and energetic, but with a slightly green note to the red cherry, pepper and spice flavors that's not to my liking. Finishes pungent and moderately persistent.
