The 2022 Pouilly-Fuisse En France ler Cru comes from around the Château de France on blue/grey clay soils unique to the appellation. Still, it slowly unfurls to reveal enticing mineralite, strict and linear compared to Barraud's other cuvees. The palate is beautifully balanced with a fine bead of acidity that cuts through the concentrated citrus fruit that segues into a nuanced, slightly pepper finish. There's a sense of control about this Pouilly-Fuisse that I really admire. Great potential.
