Disgorged in June 2018, this bottle of the 2011 Brut Grand Vintage offers up a rich bouquet of brioche, ripe lemons, tangerine, peat and walnuts that's a touch more oxidative than I would have expected to find it. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, broad and powerful, with a fine, pinpoint mousse, ripe but tangy acids, excellent depth at the core and an expansive, nutty finish.

The 2011 Brut Grand Vintage is a bit severe in its contours, but it has aged quite well for this tricky vintage. Lemon confit, dried flowers, chamomile, dried nuts and herbs are all nicely delineated. I would not push my luck on aging. This is nicely done and a great success.
