Vinous
- v88-91
The 2014 Lusseau is gracious, open and nicely layered. Sweet red cherry, plum, smoke, rose petal and spices are all woven together in a sensual, delicate wine that shows the more feminine side of St.-Emilion as expressed in this site with sandy/gravelly soils. The blend is 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Very fresh, with lots of floral lift to the plum, raspberry and damson plum notes. Offers a racy sanguine note and fine acidity. Not dense, but defined and persistent. (Barrel Tasting)

The 2014 Lusseau has developed an attractive bouquet with redcurrant jam and cranberry, the oak now neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, good grip in the mouth, a more masculine take on the vintage with a pinched finish. It just feels a tad "pushed" in the winery, a shame as this had the potential to be a better Saint Emilion.
