This shows aromas of blackcurrants and black cherries with cocoa, pine cones, toasted spices and nut shell. Medium-bodied with round and polished tannins and a fine texture. Some delicious fruit character coming through turning to a chalky and crushed stone yet juicy finish. Try in 2024.

Black fruits dominate with the focus on blackcurrants, black cherries and plums with a soft undercurrent of savoury spice - liquorice, clove, cinnamon, chocolate and coffee beans. I like the dark fruit nature and the overall weight. Tannins are firm and supportive and this has a great juicy and fresh core that sustains the wine from start to finish. Vinified by Château Talbot's Jean-Michel Laporte, the 2019 Sénéjac delivers aromas of smoky blackberries, pencil shavings and loamy soil, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively and charming palate framed by fine tannins and concluding with a saline, mouthwatering finish. It's a fine effort that comes recommended. Best After 2021
