Saint Amour is bounding with juicy raspberry fruit. It's full of energy with great minerality and silky tannins. Saint Amour has the most diverse geology of all of the Cru Beaujolais. Pirolette is distinct because the vineyards are near the top of the hill, where you have very little top soil and very good drainage. The vines average 65 years-old.

This still-young wine shows the tannic side of Saint-Amour. It has full berry flavors along with a solid texture. Acidity and freshness are hints in background. Drink from 2024.

The 2020 Saint-Amour has a rather dense nose, a kind of wall of dark berry fruit that needs more animation. The palate is medium-bodied with quite "thick" though not obtrusive tannins, and the fruit is clean. I suspect it's just a bit pushed in the winery. Give it a year in bottle.
