This is silky, verging on velvety, with a dense wave of ripe red and black fruits that flow across a stream of brisk acidity. Its minerality comes forward on the finish, mingling with edgy tannins, yet the palate remains wonderfully refreshed through it all. This is a beautiful interpretation of Tavernelle terroir. The 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino Vigna Delle Raunate takes a second to open in the glass and then reveals ripe aromas of red plums, tar, and balsamic herbs, and a delicate and pleasing rustic note of saddle leather. Medium to full-bodied, it has lovely concentration on the palate, with ripe tannins, good purity, and notes of black tea on the finish. It's a very well styled wine to enjoy over the coming 10-12 years.

The Mocali 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna delle Raunate carries lots of thick fruit weight that wraps over the palate in its entirety. There are hints of candied cherry, raspberry confit and baked plum. These dark fruit nuances give lift and verticality to the bouquet, but the wine is otherwise very broad and rich in terms of mouthfeel.
