A blend from three blocks of this famed vineyard at the southern end of Oakville, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Vine Hill Ranch combines scents of pencil shavings, subtle hints of thyme and sage, black cherries and mint. Medium to full-bodied, it doesn't have the sheer power of some of the other Tor bottlings but makes up for it in complexity. Silky, streamlined on the palate and boasting tremendous length on the finish, it's another winner from Tor Kenward and winemaker Jeff Ames.
This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted entirely from grapes sourced from three blocks in the iconic Vine Hill Ranch Vineyard in the southernmost reaches of Oakville. Each block was fermented separately, blended, and aged 18 months in French oak. An incredibly savoury nose sports ripe red berry fruit aromas laced with green tobacco and nuanced by sandalwood and mocha spices. Its medium-bodied palate has wonderful black currant notes, cooling acidity, crushed rock minerality, and textured, granular tannins with terrific grip. It's a long and lean red with an extended finish.
