An elegant and pure-fruited Cabernet-Franc-based blend rounded out with 4% Malbec. Perfumed violets mingle with dusty minerals and expressive cedarwood dusted with mocha powder and ground espresso beans. Bright and energetic with a firm spine of spicy acidity balanced by precise tannins. Medium-bodied and juicy with loads of crunchy red berry fruit and red apple skin aromatics with a length mineral-rich finish that is totally satisfying. Titus Vineyards is surrounded by their 40-acre Ranch Estate Vineyard and winery located at the base of Howell Mountain along the Silverado Trail north of the town of St. Helena. The winery opened its doors in 2015. The Titus' also own a 10-acre vineyard on Ehlers Lane, called 'The Ehlers Lane Family Estate', a half-mile north of their Ranch vineyard. The winemaker is Stephen Cruzan, and the vineyard manager is Eric Titus. This Cabernet Franc combines grapes from estate vineyards and Sugarloaf Vineyard in south Napa.
Marked by floral notes (violets?) and bright cherries, underscored by mossy oak scents, the 2021 Cabernet Franc is a nicely aromatic example. A reasonably dark purple in the glass, it's medium to full-bodied, with a rich, velvety mouthfeel and a lingering, gently mocha-tinged finish. It should drink well for a decade or more.
