SERIO E BATISTA BORGOGNO BAROLO is a distinguished red wine from the Piedmont region of Italy. It features complex flavors of dark cherry, plum, and dried rose, accompanied by earthy undertones and firm tannins. This Barolo showcases the unique terroir of its mountainous origin, providing a robust and structured profile typical of this esteemed wine appellation.
Ideal food pairings include rich dishes such as osso buco, braised lamb shanks, and truffle risotto. It also complements aged cheeses like Parmigiano-Reggiano and gorgonzola, enhancing the dining experience with its full-bodied character.
The 2021 Barolo is a pretty powerful, deep wine from Fratelli Serio & Battista Borgogno. Dark red cherry, spice, orange peel and cedar lend notable aromatic presence, but I am most struck by the wine's textural resonance. This is impeccably done.
The Fratelli Serio & Battista Borgogno 2021 Barolo shows a simple bouquet with dried fruit and herb. The fruit is slightly faded and not as vibrant in this blend that is mostly from Monforte d'Alba and Novello, with a small part from La Morra. It offers a savory or earthy quality with polished tannins for drinking over the near term. This is a 17,000-bottle release.
