Pierre-Yves Colin purchased three parcels in the Hautes Côtes in 2014 with Benoît Riffault and Emilie Sauzet, which he collectively refers to as ‘Au Bout du Monde’. The grapes get the same treatment: a light crush, virtually no settling and then into cask for a year and a further six months in tank. In 2020 the result was predictably sunny but there were citrus notes as well and enough freshness to bring the wine into balance.
From a parcel planted in 2015 at a density of 12,000 vines per hectare, Colin's 2020 Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Au Bout du Monde mingles notions of pear and white flowers and hints of freshly baked bread and nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied, lively and enveloping, with a pretty core of fruit and a saline finish, it's promising.
