The 2019 Estate Pinot Noir Scallop Shelf has a medium ruby-purple color and aromas of blueberries, dried cranberries, tar, graphite and tobacco leave, plus tones of forest floor and pepper coming through as it spends time in the glass. The medium-bodied palate is intense and powerful, with loads of powdery tannins and layer after layer of spice, bitters and berry fruit refreshed by bright acidity, and it finishes long and nuanced. It's youthfully tense and will benefit from at least another 2-3 years in bottle.

Deep in colour for Pinot, but the nose is bright, with intense, minty red fruits and rose petal aromas. Broad and fleshy, it shows ample weight and concentration, but despite the considerable power, the acidity is moderate, giving a wine that, while structured, is already approachable. This is one of three estate-grown vineyard blends produced by Peay.
