The 2021 Volnay Clos des Angles 1er Cru has a gorgeous bouquet with brambly red fruit, crushed stone, sous-bois and wilted rose petal scents. The oak is beautifully integrated. Returning after 10 minutes, it has blossomed further. The palate is very well balanced with finely sculptured tannins. Whilst there is a patina of new oak that will hopefully be integrated with time, with aeration the wood comes across a little too strongly, causing me to downgrade my score.
