I have long admired the 2014 vintage in Margaret River. Warm and sunny, the region produced magnificent Cabernets in this season, although it must be said that the inherent style of Cabernets from this region has further refined since then. Here, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is complex, subtle, supple and plush. The fruit is teetering on the brink of development, without fully dipping in to it yet, suggesting that perhaps it would be prudent to wait for these bottles to further come of age prior to opening them (as it stands in 2025). I have loved this wine before, and I feel the same way again here today.
Celebrating 30 years of Mugford ownership this year. This is delightfully aromatic, with blackcurrants, brambles and bay leaf flavours that are deep and richly concentrated. There's velvety texture, power and finesse with abundant ripe tannins.
