The Massolino Barolo Serralunga is a distinguished red wine from the Piedmont region of Italy, known for its robust structure and depth. Featuring prominent notes of dark cherry, rose, and earthy undertones, this Barolo showcases the unique terroir of Serralunga d'Alba, characterized by its clay and limestone soils, which contribute to its rich tannins and long aging potential.
This full-bodied wine pairs excellently with rich dishes such as braised beef, osso buco, and hearty mushroom risottos. It also complements aged cheeses and game meats, making it an ideal choice for classic Italian cuisine.
Parafada is a small MGA in a basin with full south, east and west exposures. Massolino's interpretation is surgical: super-zesty with earthy strawberry, liquorice, fresh violet and a Pinot-like elegance. The palate shows a richness with juicy, brilliant acidity, silky tannins and an amazing finish with blood orange vibrancy. Graceful, with good strength for ageing.
Showing elegant richness and a velvety consistency, the Massolino 2020 Barolo ages in large oak botti for 30 months. The wine represents a blend of fruit from Serralunga d'Alba (Collaretto, Briccolina, Broglio and Le Turne) and one site in Castiglione Falletto. Elegance is underlined in this wine that shows wild berry, dried blueberry and a sweet touch of lilac over a medium-dark finish. The wine's texture manages to be direct and linear but generous at the same time. This is a large release of 90,000 bottles and a good value for money.
