Produced from yields of just 15 hectoliters per hectare, the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Barbe Rac is a powerful, 100% Grenache wine raised in concrete. It's a big, full-bodied beauty, loaded with scents of kirsch and framboise, stuffed with ripe tannins and with a finish that lasts for several minutes. Give it 5 years in the cellar and drink it over the next decade or so.

An array of captivatingly intense raspberries and red plums with licorice and some wild-herb nuances, too. There’s a very ripe feel to the super plush, open and voluminous palate. Ripe, smooth finish. Drink over the next decade or more.

A hedonistic and rich style with very ripe fruit that will gain in complexity as it ages. Blackberry, both fresh and in compote, and plum, both fresh and dried. Violets too. Full, rounded, slightly sweet in character, with more blackberry and prune on the palate – there's a hint of surmaturité to the fruit. Good weight of tannin, ever so slightly drying, but should age well. From a plot of large rolled stones over red clay and sand to the west of the village of Châteauneuf, lieu-dit Barbe d'Asne. 68-year-old Grenache vines, all destemmed, fermented then matured for 18 months in concrete.
