Luigi Pira Barolo Serralunga 2022 hails from the prestigious Barolo region of Piedmont, Italy. This Nebbiolo-based wine showcases a complex flavor profile with notes of dark cherry, plum, and earthy undertones, complemented by floral hints and robust tannins typical of the Serralunga subzone's terroir.
Pair this wine with hearty dishes, such as braised meats or aged cheeses, to enhance its bold flavors. Serve slightly below room temperature and consider decanting for 30-60 minutes prior to consumption to allow the wine to open up fully.
Compiled from lower plots in Marenca with vineyards in Rivette and Sorano, this village bottling simply radiates Serralunga. It is intensely and headily perfumed with jasmine, ginestra and almond blossom. Full and rich yet crisp in bite, the palate features pristine dark red cherry and blood orange. Super-firm, sophisticated tannins are dry but not parching, lending exciting textural drama. Finishes with thyme and bitter-citrus zest. Huge in personality, this is a compelling force to be reckoned with. Ageing is in 25-hectolitre Slavonian oak casks.
