Leeuwin are best known for their Art Series, but this Prelude is a great place to start. The nose is rich, with a hint of wax, black pepper and baked apple. The palate has a glycerine plumpness, with flavours of caramelised apple, toffee and sweet spices. A well-made, barrel fermented Aussie Chardonnay that shows that oaky Chardonnays can still impress.
