The 2016 Chevalier Montrachet Clos des Chevaliers Grand Cru is slightly richer on the nose compared to the Bâtard-Montrachet, although that may well be because there is more new oak. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry with apricot and peach notes, although at the moment, it is difficult to get a hold on the tension and terroir expression, which is why I prefer the Bâtard-Montrachet at this early moment. That said, another sample from an older barrel showed more nervosité. I remain prudent with my score for now and will endeavor to see how it turns out in bottle.
