A big, solid red with blackcurrant, blackberry and hazelnut character. Itâs structured and tightly wound with dense, creamy tannins that provide form and intensity. A little tight at the end. Give it two or three years to open a little more. Try in 2024.
Hewitt's 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the brand's designated 60-acre vineyard on the western side of Highway 29. Cedar and vanilla notes frame gentle cassis on the nose, while the palate is medium to full-bodied, moderately concentrated and softly dusty on the finish. While an excellent wine when considered in isolation, given the vineyard site and pricing, it has to be considered a bit disappointing.
