The nose is intensely aromatic and floral, with piercing notes of crushed strawberries, potpourri and orange rind. The palate is medium-bodied with seamless tannins and bright acidity, showing red currants, forest floor, cassia bark and mulberries. Very balanced and pure, with 40% whole cluster. Drink or hold.
The average age of these vines is 27 years, planted between 150 and 235m in elevation. The wine spent 10 months in 35% new French with 40% whole cluster fermentation. A few tertiary characteristics are already forming, with some tanned leather, tobacco, and cedar very prominent, but that does not take away from the fruit, which is very present. Cherry compote and dried currants and plums are at the fore, along with a tangy, ferrous-like note that rounds it out.
