The 2023 Pinot Noir Savoy Vineyard is plump, juicy and forward. In 2023, the Savoy Pinot has an added kick of darkness and seriousness that is quite attractive. Black cherry, plum, graphite, leather, incense and tobacco add to an impression of gravitas. The long, sustained finish is pure and total class.
Savoy is one of Failla’s longest-running vineyard contracts, going back to 1996, a classic Anderson Valley site with a ton of personality. The 2023 shows a very expressive nose right out of the gate, with dark berries, savory herbs, and forest floor. On the palate, it feels even more serious, with firm, big tannins and a tight, coiled structure that might just need a little time to open up.
