The 2022 Syrah Eddie's Patch was harvested on September 6, just after the Labor Day heat wave began, and although it's a powerful expression, the Eddie's Syrah retains elegance and should be long lived in the cellar. The nose offers cassis, blueberry and violet, and it has a wildness lent by smoky, sanguine undertones reminiscent of beef cooking over a fire. The full-bodied palate is bold but pretty with layer after layer of dark, floral fruit. It's structured by powdery tannins and fireworks of fresh acidity, and it has a long, pure finish. Just 340 cases were made.
