Abbey Oaks is Domaine Serene’s only estate vineyard in the Yamhill-Carlton appellation, where the vines are planted in marine sedimentary soils. The 2021 Pinot Noir Abbey Oaks Vineyard has broody aromas of red and black cherries and berries and accents of blood orange, lavender and aniseed. The medium-bodied palate is powerfully styled, its ripe fruit complemented by touches of new oak. It’s structured by chalky tannins and vibrant acidity and has a long, fragrant finish. It’s a great candidate for the cellar.
The Yamhill Cuvée is a blend across the Domaine Serene estates. This wine is blended to arrive at a particular signature with warm red and blue berry fruits, white pepper and rum cake notes. The palate is a balancer of sweet red berries, ripe Italian plums and a hint of savoury garrigue.
The 2021 Pinot Noir Yamhill Cuvée wafts up with an enticing blend of ground clove, cinnamon, shavings of cedar and dried black cherries. This opens with a pretty inner sweetness as silky textures usher in ripe wild berry fruits, all balanced by a core of zesty acidity. It leaves an air of lavender and licorice to linger, finishing with medium length and lightly structured.
