Expert Reviews
The exquisite grand cru Les Clos from Pinson is a wine of elegance and restraint, with a pale lemon-yellow colour that belies the intensity of the ripe nectarine and lemon-peel aromas with a suggestion of hawthorn flowers and spice. The texture is silky and plump, but the balance between the acidity and extract is still in perfect harmony. The grapes come from four parcels totalling 2.75ha; the grapes are picked by hand and gently pressed before fermentation in tank (90%) and cask (new, 10%). The wine is ageing at present in used casks. Certified Haute Valeur.
The 2023 Chablis Village offers crushed stone, Conference pear and cooked apple scents on the nose that opens nicely in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a keen line of acidity. It's quite pure and tensile with ample weight on the oily finish. This is classy. Tasted blind at the BIVB offices in Chablis.
