A blend of 100% Grenache that comes from the Gardiole lieu-dit and vines over 100 years in age, the 2011 Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee Alexis Establet is gorgeously perfumed and fragrant, with sweet kirsch, framboise, licorice, crushed flowers and spice aromas all soaring from the glass. Aged all in foudre, it delivers serious Grenache character with its medium to full-bodied, seamless, textured and yet weightless feel on the palate. Not a heavy weight and most likely on a fast evolutionary track, it’s an outstanding bottle of wine to drink over the coming 5-7 years. Drink now-2021. These solid, perfumed and fruit-loaded efforts are made by the Jeune family, with consulting help by Philippe Cambie. The reds here always show solid aromatics and back it up with supple, deliciously textured mouthfeels. Importers: various American importers including: J & R Selections, Lansing, MI; tel.
