With 3,000 bottles released, the F.lli Cigliuti 2017 Barbaresco Bricco di Neive Vie Erte is toned and fresh with a most beautiful delivery of wild berry, cassis and crushed blue flowers. The wine is spirited and ethereal and just sails along quietly over the palate with silky intensity. You get more power in terms of mouthfeel, which is where those hot-vintage Nebbiolo tannins leave their mark, although the wine did soften up considerably when I went back to the bottle 24 hours later. Give this Barbaresco from Neive a few more years in the bottle. This is a nice surprise from 20-year-old young vines that were not touched by the April hail storm.
