CHATEAU LARCIS DUCASSE ST. EMILION GRAND CRU is a distinguished red wine from the renowned Bordeaux region of France. This wine showcases a rich flavor profile with notes of dark berries, plum, and subtle hints of oak, characteristic of the Merlot and Cabernet Franc varietals commonly grown in St. Emilion.
Best paired with hearty dishes, this wine complements red meats such as beef and lamb, as well as game. It also enhances the flavors of aged cheeses and rich, savory stews, making it a versatile choice for various culinary experiences.
This is extremely young but is pulsing with minerality. It’s clear that this was a late ripening vintage, with the grapes gathering up flavour and nuance as they inched towards ripeness. It could do with a double decant to show off the complex array of flavours. A floral edge evident, pushing out among the cassis and blueberry fruit, and the tannins are fully in control.
The 2014 Larcis-Ducasse has a lovely bouquet: quite complex compared to its Saint Emilion peers, adorned with rose petal notes complementing the cranberry and wild strawberry fruit, the oak neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with a succulent entry, brown spices and leather fusing with the red berries that segue into an atypically structured and classically styled finish that shows good length. This is an excellent Larcis-Ducasse that should give 20 years of drinking pleasure, possibly more.
