Although this wine has more evident breadth than either the 2020 or the 2019, you get do not get any heaviness despite the heat of the vintage. The palate has a 'thicker' aspect when compared to both 2019 and 2020, but brisk sea salt freshness on the finish reassures, leaving the impression of palate classiness, with ripe red and black fruit, aniseed, white flower and wet stone. The overall impression of velvety smooth tannin, better than in 2019, leads to a long finish.
This CB has an extremely energetic palate with beautiful elegance and power. Pure and bright. Really lively. Firm and chewy tannins.
The 2018 Cantenac Brown has a medium to deep garnet-purple color, wafting gently out of the glass with fragrant scents of redcurrant jelly, Morello cherries, plum preserves and fresh blackcurrants, plus suggestions of red roses, cedar chest and pencil lead. The medium-bodied palate (13.5% declared alcohol) has a sturdy frame of grainy tannins and plenty of freshness supporting the delicately styled red and black fruit flavors, finishing savory.
