Now in its fourth vintage, Banfi’s new single vineyard Brunello is starting to come into its own with the 2019 release. It is articulate in its aromas of tobacco and balsamic herbs. A dash of foraged mushrooms adds intrigue. Savoury nuances repeat on the palate providing a clever foil for the luscious plum and blackberry fruit. Polished and integrated, chewy oak tannins add textural drama and wood notes remain demurely in the background. This is all very well put together and carries its weight with ease.
