The 2012 Petite Sirah Palisades Vineyard, which is still in barrel, reveals peppery, meaty, blackberry and blueberry fruit notes intermixed with a hint of barbecue smoke. The relatively civilized tannins are no doubt attributable to this vintage that has produced such sweet, velvety, fruit-forward wines. Nevertheless, this full-bodied, polished 2012 Petite Sirah is capable of lasting 20 years after its release later this year. Interestingly, Carver Sutro declassified its entire 2011 crop. (Not yet released) These offerings, which come from the northern Calistoga AVA vineyard called Palisades, are made from 40-year-old, head-trained, dry-farmed Petite Sirah vines. Tel. (707) 942-1029
