The good-value little brother of Flor de Muga Blanco. Fermented in lightly toasted oak vats and casks, it then spends four months in oak to give a subtle oak infuence and a little more complexity. It's a creamy, full-flavoured white, with brisk citrus notes, rounded out by white peach.
The 2022 Blanco, sourced from Rioja, is a blend of Viura, Garnacha Blanca and Malvasía Riojana. Aged for four months in French oak barrels, this yellow wine presents subtle aromas of pineapple, pears, grass and a touch of oak. With a dry and creamy profile, the wine's vibrant and refreshing core leaves a lingering impression, accompanied by a subtle chalky texture.
The white 2022 Blanco, 70% Viura with the rest mostly Garnacha Blanca, has a significant percentage of ripe Malvasía Riojana (a grape that doesn't ripen well every year), and it might have given it an extra kick of acidity. They blend wine from barrel and tank, which they started doing in 2016, and reduce the effect of the oak, especially the toast. They have discarded Tempranillo Blanco. This is still fresh and balanced, ripe and powerful, with 14% alcohol, but it keeps a low pH. It’s clean and tasty, with a spicy twist but no obvious oak. They have made a lot of white wine, and demand keeps increasing. 255,000 bottles produced!
