It's the most concentrated of the various bottlings, accenting black cherries, cassis and raspberry notes with hints of crushed stone and pencil shavings. Full-bodied and firm but approachable, it's a classic mountain Cabernet with two decades of potential longevity.
The Rattlesnake bottling is a blend of Barnett’s finest estate fruit from the vintage. Maceration times ranged from 13 to 23 days, tailored to each parcel’s extraction needs. Following fermentation, the wine was pressed into 89% new French oak barrels for ageing. Over its nearly two years in the cellar, it was racked three times to refine its character. Richly scented with kirsch, fig paste, and mocha, this full-bodied wine is framed by palate-etching tannins that settle into every crevice. Nuances of sage and pressed violets emerge, layering themselves atop the densely rich, sweet fruit core that drives the lengthy finish. This is a powerful and attractive wine, with hedonism at its core.
