Azelia Barolo Riserva Bricco Voghera is a distinguished red wine from the renowned Barolo region of Piedmont, Italy. It showcases a complex flavor profile marked by rich notes of dark fruits, earthy undertones, and well-integrated tannins, reflecting the terroir of its origin with depth and elegance.
This Barolo pairs excellently with hearty dishes such as braised lamb, rich risottos, and aged cheeses. It also complements traditional Italian cuisine, enhancing meals featuring truffles or mushrooms, making it a versatile choice for gourmet dining.
This is the big gun from Luigi Scavino's Azelia. In the bottle with the white and gold label, the 2014 Barolo Riserva Bricco Voghera reveals a medium-dark appearance with budding tertiary tones of cherry confit, campfire ash, tar and road pavement. The wine is open-knit and offers broad intensity with a baritone personality. Despite the freshness of the vintage, it lacks some of the high notes and the tension that Nebbiolo is often capable of giving. I would not extend the drinking window much beyond the 20-year mark. This is a limited release of 3,000 bottles.
