ARTADI GARNACHA PASOS DE SAN MARTIN is a red wine hailing from the prestigious wine region of Spain. This wine features vibrant notes of ripe red berries, subtle spices, and a hint of earthiness, characteristic of its Garnacha grape varietal and the terroir of the area.
Ideal food pairings for this wine include grilled meats, roasted vegetables, and rich stews. It also complements cheese platters, particularly aged cheeses, enhancing the overall dining experience.
The bottled 2019 San Martín was produced with Tempranillo grapes from 0.76 hectares of vines planted in 1930 in the village of Laguardia on an east-facing slope with a high content of limestone just below the Torre de Oña winery. It's ripe (14.71% alcohol) and soft, showcasing the approachable style of the vintage, with round tannins and mellow acidity (4.83 grams). It followed a similar vinification and aging as the rest of the wines from the year: a one- or two-day maceration and a soft 10- to 12-day fermentation in open oak vats with two daily foot treads and one soft pump-over followed by nine months in French barrique. It has the chalky and austere texture of the limestone-rich soils. It's powerful and well built. 1,200 bottles were filled in June 2021.
There’s a great sense of place in this village wine, 100% Garnacha from San Martín de Unx. Grown at 500m in poor calcareous soils, this expresses the wild herb and garrigue character typical of the area. Great intensity and quite robust but tannins are ripe, and pretty strawberry fruit brings a certain elegance. A wine with lots of personality.
