Vinhão is the most common red grape in Vinho Verde, a colored pulp variety (known as Sousão in Douro) that produces wines like the 2022 Vinhão from Aphros, a rustic and earthy red not that far from a Garnacha Tintorera/Alicante Bouschet produced with contained ripeness to keep the alcohol at a moderate level and with a granite texture, making it close to a Beaujolais. They kept the tradition of stomping the clusters in a granite lagar and keeping it unoaked. 10,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2024.
