This is a family-owned Champagne house based in Vertus on the Côte des Blancs. Today, it is run by the fifth generation, André Jacquart’s granddaughter Marie Doyard, who took over from her mother Chantal and uncle Pierre Doyard-Jacquart. Their estate encompasses 24ha in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Vertus, with 20ha planted to Chardonnay on grand and premier cru sites. The domaine is unusual in the region for using oak vats in the fermentation of the base wine. Michael Edwards: A tip-top example that is beautiful straw gold in the glass. The palate shows a fine medley of soft fruit, elegant acidity and a mineral streak with developing vinosity. Simon Field MW: Steely, rich and long, this displays hints of verbena and honeydew melon with an eloquent, chalky mid-palate. A very impressive wine. Xavier Rousset MS: There’s plenty of good wine here, beneath evident oak characters. It is a balanced example with interesting oak influence.
