The 2016 Tinto Edad Media is a blend of 40% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot from Gualtallary. The wine matured in 500-liter French oak barrels for 12 months, followed by a further 12 months in a concrete amphorae. This has a very herbal and spicy nose and perfectly integrated oak. The palate is austere with chalky tannins and none of the creamy feelings that I found in the 2015. 5,500 bottles were filled in May 2018.
