The ALFRED MERKELBACH Riesling Kinheimer Rosenberg Spätlese #2 is a notable white wine from the Mosel region of Germany. It features a classic Riesling profile with vibrant acidity and pronounced fruit notes, including ripe apple, peach, and a touch of honey, which are complemented by mineral undertones characteristic of the terroir.
This Spätlese pairs well with a variety of dishes, including spicy Asian cuisine, rich seafood, and soft cheeses. It also complements dishes featuring fruity sauces or desserts based on stone fruits and citrus.
The 2023 Riesling Kinheimer Rosenberg Spätlese trails with juicy apple and gentle peach. The palate is rounded and gently sweet, with subtle notes of peach and tart red apple peel. Everything feels gentle and soothing, like a caress, with a very light and fresh finish.
From single poles on blue slate soils and vinified in stainless steel, the 2023 Kinheimer Rosenberg Riesling Spätlese opens with aromas of ripe to a little overripe, concentrated, yellow fruit intertwined with floral/herbal notes of weathered slate. Mouth-filling, very elegant and seamless in its texture, this is a delicious and light but textured Spätlese that is structured by its fine, crystalline acidity and delicate grip. It has good length and is really mouthwatering. 9% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in January 2026.
