The 2021 Branco Maceração Pelicular is a roughly equal blend of Encruzado, Cerceal Branco and Malvasia Fina aged for three months in used French oak. It comes in at 12.6% alcohol. This is an "orange" wine. The sweet edge (maybe the touch of wood?) succumbs quickly to that orange-wine style that gives us some tannic pop and power. It adds freshness, though, precision and a vibrant feel while expressing its fruit well. This is a lovely orange wine, if you like the style. Of course, like most of them, it will do a lot better with a food pairing. It seems poised to age pretty well, although let's be a little conservative for the moment, but you can certainly drink it now.
