Turning to the great vintage of 2013, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Benchland Series is sensational and probably the strongest wine made at the William Hill Winery in many a vintage. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 19 months in one-fourth new French and a small amount of new American oak, the wine represents 1,700 cases, tips the scales at 15.1% alcohol and exhibits an inky ruby/purple color, a big, sweet kiss of crème de cassis, licorice and loamy soil notes. The wine has fabulous fruit, a full-bodied opulence, but good acidity and moderately high tannin. Like most 2013s, there is tremendous finish and upside potential, so try and be somewhat patient, giving it another year or two of bottle age. It should keep for 15 or more years.

A strong effort, featuring a rich core of licorice-laced blackberry and wild berry notes, with touches of cedar, tobacco leaf and crushed rock. Firms nicely on the finish, where the tannins are a presence without being overbearing. Drink now. 1,838 cases made.

This expansive wine is generous on the palate in dusty tannin, currant, pencil and tobacco, more savory than sweet. Firm texture and structured acidity provide a classic edge to this 100% varietal wine that will do well at the table.
