A nervy, savory wine, the 2018 Barbaresco Rabaja-Bas has quite a bit of character. Sweet macerated cherry, spice, dried herbs, tobacco, cedar and crushed autumn leaves are all very nicely lifted. Beams of tannin give this deceptively mid-weight Barbaresco a good kick of energy and persistence that builds into a finish laced with balsamic accents. I especially like the translucent expression of Nebbiolo here.
