Vivid red. Aromas of red cherry, licorice, red currant and camphor show strong spice and eucalyptus qualities. Multilayered and almost shockingly showy today, with rich cardamom and cinnamon notes complementing the ripe, bright red cherry and plum flavors. Tactile and broad on the long, spicy finish, this is not the most powerful Asili wine ever made by Ceretto but it shows lovely balance. Although the 2008 vintage was better for Barolo than Barbaresco, it remains one of the most underrated years of the last two decades for both denominations. This wine is drinking beautifully.

The estate's 2008 Barbaresco Bricco Asili is a pretty, understated wine laced with sweet berries, crushed rose petals and spices. Sweet silky tannins frame the expressive red fruit through to the detailed finish. The 2008 is a relatively small-scaled Bricco Asili, yet the wine shows lovely balance and classiness. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2026.
