The 2019 Erba Syrah speaks to the varietal's Northern Rhône heritage. Instantly you notice the meaty spicy qualities that you look for in a great Hermitage, but the textures are pure California. Round seductive tannins, an incredibly plush mid palate, and a finish that lingers for almost 45 seconds. This is classic done New World style. The mid palate is exceptionally rich and round which make you think New World, but the aromatics are grilled meat, hints of olive and ripe plums which hint at Old. Flavor and Power, what I always search for in great Syrah.
